Mount Zion By Maryam Bature
I woke up early that morning, get prepared quickly and rushed out to work. Getting there, everything was good, all was going well and work was moving smoothly. Towards the afternoon, I received a letter which stated that my work has been terminated and my services are no longer needed.
Leaving the work place, I went to the market to get myself some stuff but couldn’t get all I wanted because I ran out of cash.
Coming out of the market, I decided to visit some friends of mine before going home so as to have someone to share what I am passing through. On getting there, they ignored me because I chose to live a free of any form of immorality and not join them in their way of life.
On getting home, I met a two weeks notice of evacuation if I don’t settle my rent as the year is far spent. And suddenly, I remembered I had no job and no much cash on me.
Getting into the house, I decided to call a family member to help me with some cash or somewhere to stay when I leave my place but my family member told me a lot of things they are passing through with no iota of me getting help from them.
Then I decided to make something for myself to eat as I am so famished and I realised that my provisions are almost finished and I have no idea where to get more provisions for myself.
It got late in the night and I reflected on how my day went and realised that I have passed through a lot and despite all of that, I don’t feel down but with each passing moment, I feel some soothing peace and joy increasing deep down in my heart.
And I wondered what was happening then I suddenly recalled that Psalms 125:1-2 says “Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which can never be shaken, never be moved.
As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people now and forever”
With that assurance, I laid down to have a peaceful sleep knowing that the Lord will never leave me and all my problems will be solved according to His will and plan.
